HOW TO: Setup email in Outlook 2007?

What is needed?

  • Your domain name, e.g. yourdomain.com
  • Your email address
  • Your email password

STEP by STEP: Configuring Outlook 2007

1. Open Outlook 2007.

2. Click the Tools menu, and select Account Settings.

3. Click on the Email tab and click on the New... button.

4. Next select POP3 and click Next.

5. On the Auto Account Setup window check the Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next.
NOTE: Shiftonline does not support this feature on our mail servers, so you should not use the Auto Account Setup feature.

6. Select Internet E-mail option and click Next.

7. Fill in the following fields

  • Enter Your Name as you want it to appear.
  • Enter your full email address username@yourdomain.com in the Email address field.
  • Select POP3 or IMAP.
  • Enter mail.yourdomain.com in the Incoming mail (POP3) server field.
  • Enter mail.yourdomain.com in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field.
  • Enter your username username@yourdomain.com in the Account name field.
  • Enter your email password in the Password field.

8. Congratulations. You have finished the setup of your email account. Click Finish to close the setup wizard.

STEP by STEP: Configuring Outlook Express and Outlook 2002

1.
Open Outlook or Outlook Express.

2. Click the Tools menu, and select Accounts...

Click Add and then click Mail...

4. Enter your name in the Display name field, and click Next.

5. Enter your full email address username@yourdomain.com in the E-mail address field and click Next.

6. Enter mail.shiftonline-example.com in the Incoming mail (POP3) server: field.

7. Enter mail.shiftonline-example.com. in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: field
Note: If your account still gives problem use the outgoing server of your ISP. E.g for Shaw use shawmail and for telus use smtp.telus.net

8. Enter your username username@yourdomain.com in the Account name field. Enter your email password in the Password field, and click Next.

9. As for the Import screen if you do not want to import information click Do not import at this time and click Next.

10. Click on Finish. You MUST do the next steps to be able to send email via your server.

HOW TO: Set up email on the iPhone or the iPod Touch

You can set up and make changes to an email account directly on the iPhone or the iPod Touch with your pre-existing email account. You will simply need the standard email account information: username, password, and the incoming and outgoing mail server host information for your domain, e.g. mail.yourdomain.com.


How to enter account settings directly on iPhone

1. If this is the first account you're setting up on the iPhone or the iPod Touch, tap Mail.
Otherwise, from the Home screen choose Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account.

2. Choose your email account type. For setting up email to work with your Shiftonline Service choose Other.

3. Select server type POP, and enter account information.

4. Fill in your information:

  • Name
  • Address username@yourdomain.com
  • Description
  • Incoming Mail Server Host Name mail.yourdomain.com
  • User Name username@yourdomain.com
  • Password

Fill in your information:

  • Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) Host Name mail.yourdomain.com
  • User Name username@yourdomain.com
  • Password
  • and Tap Save to save the entered information.

5. Upon successful completion of the mailbox setup you are taken back to the Mail Settings screen
